5/14/22 With a little time to spare on our last day in Eureka, we took a quick tour of the Sequoia Park Zoo.
1 The Sequoia Park Zoo is a small municipal zoo run by the city of Eureka. Like everything else on this trip, it exceeded expectations.
2 The Redwood Skywalk is a really well done nature walk through the Coastal Redwoods.
3 Some of the platforms are 100' off the ground. It must have been quite a construction project.
4 The suspension bridges were especially fun.
5 There was a cool little petting zoo.
6 And an aviary with some interesting birds.
7 I never knew that Flamingos get their color from their food. It's the same pigment that makes carrots orange!
8 Some fresh water otters.
9 And a Bald Eagle exhibit where the birds pose perfectly for the camera. Then it was time to head to the airport and back home. We could have easily spent twice as long on this trip. Maybe next time!
