New Jersey

A trip to New Jersey gave me the chance to experience some trail in an entirely new area. It definitely proved that NJ is not just an urban metropolis. I spent one day in the swampy Pine Barrens and then one day near the rocky Kittatinny Ridge.

Pine Barrens

4/2/16  The first day I spent in and around Wharton State Forest in the Pine Barrens. This area covers the majority of Southern New Jersey and is a flat, fascinating mix of white pine forests and bogs.

Kittatinny Ridge

4/3/16  The second day was a chance to explore a small seciton of the Appalachian Trail just outside of NJ in Pennsylvania along the Kittatinny Ridge. Freezing temps, heavy wind, and a light snow made for an interesting morning.
