5/10/22 Later in the day, we drive around Lake Siskiyou and then get in a short hike on the PCT at Castle Crags State Park.
1 We were determined to catch a glimpse of the Mt. Shasta peak, but cloudy weather made it difficult. This was about the best we could do.
2 We cruised through the town of McCloud, a great little mountain towns. We stopped at The Mercantile, a well known shop and cafe.
3 We have a little bit of time left in the day, so we drive out to Lake Siskiyou in the hopes of getting a good Mt. Shasta photo. Still no luck, but it was a pretty drive.
4 On the way South to Redding, we decide to get in a quick hike in Castle Crags State Park along a portion of the PCT.
5 Some nice trail as we head up from the highway. It looks like it's going to start raining any minute now.
6Back to the I-5 and south a ways we get to the State Park and the trailhead to a vista point. Junction with the PCT. We're headed out to the Crags Vista Point.
7 Made it to the lookout. The Crags are an impressive rock formation and probably a hotspot for local climbers.
8 There's supposed to be a great view of Mt. Shasta there somewhere!
9 Headed down the Kettlebelly Trail around the other side of the loop. End to a great day in the Mt. Shasta area.
