10/18/21 A trip with Dad part way up the Rivas Canyon trail and then on the detour up to Unknown Peak. Perfect weather and a great hike.
1 We're off of the Rivas Canyon trail now and headed up towards Unknown Peak with Pacific Palisades far below.
2 Dad taking a quick break. There had been perfect blue skies all day so far, but now a cloud bank is blowing in.
3 Dad's photo of me heading up through the chapparal.
4 The upper section of trail has some great terrain.
5 This is the trail, are you kidding me!?
6 Dad making his way up the one dicey section. It's definitely a highlight of the trail.
7 Dad's photo of me heading up the fun section.
8 I don't remember ever having seen an elevation marker up here. But here it is.
9 It was the most crowded I had ever seen this section of trail (we saw a total of 5 people). The plus side is there was someone on top to snap a photo of us.
10 Dad on top of Unknown Peak.
11 Coming back down the dicey section. Just sketchy enough to keep things interesting!
12 Cruising back down through the chapparal.
13 Great views on the way down.
14 Heading down one of the slip 'n slide sections almost back down to the Rivas Canyon trail. End to an awesome day!
